Church Live Streaming Policy

Including All Saints’ Ockbrook Live Streaming Safeguarding Protocols Agreed by the O&B PCC and the Derby Diocesan Safeguarding Team, 2022.

Purpose

This policy outlines the principles and procedures for live streaming church services and events, ensuring the safeguarding of all participants and maintaining the dignity and privacy of worship.

Safeguarding Commitments

All Saints’ Ockbrook is committed to creating a safe and respectful environment for worshippers, volunteers, and staff. Live streaming is conducted in accordance with safeguarding best practices and diocesan guidance.

Streaming Protocols

• Congregational Privacy
  Cameras will be positioned to avoid capturing the congregation. Only the chancel, lectern, and designated performance areas will be visible on stream.
• Service Restrictions
  • 4ALL Services: These inclusive, family-oriented services will not be live streamed.
  • Holy Communion: The distribution of Holy Communion will be excluded from the live stream to preserve reverence and privacy.

• Children’s Ministry Safeguards
  Verbal feedback from Shining Stars (children and leaders) will be conducted at the back of the church, out of camera view, using a hand-held microphone.

• Consent Requirements
  Only individuals who will appear on camera must provide prior written consent. See below consent form. This includes:
  • Preachers
  • Service Leaders
  • Prayer Leaders
  • Bible Readers
  • Musicians
  • Offertory Collectors Consent must be submitted before the Sunday on which the individual is involved.
  • Consent can be withdrawn at any time by informing the Vicar or one of the Church Wardens.

• Consent withdrawal and/or Holy Communion If someone declines to be live streamed, and/or during Holy Communion the audio/visual team will show a suitable alternative image and music.

Communication and Transparency

• These protocols will be published on the church website.
• They will be periodically featured in the monthly news sheet to ensure ongoing awareness.

Monitoring and Review

• The policy will be regularly reviewed (annually) by the PCC and Safeguarding Team.

• Amendments will be made as necessary to reflect changes in technology, safeguarding standards, or congregational needs.
• Consent withdrawal and/or Holy Communion If someone declines to be live streamed, and/or during Holy Communion the audio/visual team will show a suitable alternative image and music.

Church Live Streaming Consent Form

Purpose of this form: Our church sometimes live streams services and events. This means video and sound may be shared online in real time or recorded for later viewing. We want to make sure you understand what this means and that you are happy to give your consent.

What Live Streaming Means

• A camera may record parts of the service or event.
• This may include people attending, speaking, reading, singing, or leading prayers.
• The video may be shared on platforms like YouTube, Facebook, or the church website.
• Recordings may be kept and viewed later.
