Safeguarding

Here in the Parish of Ockbrook and Borrowash, we take protecting children, young people and vulnerable adults very seriously and believe it is the responsibility of us all to protect them, whether they are in the communities in which we live or part of our Christian family.

If you have a concern about a child, young person or adult who may be at risk of harm please speak to our parish safeguarding coordinator – details below or to our vicar within the parish – details below.

You can also report any concerns to the Police or Social Care. The important thing is that your concerns are shared with someone in a position to help.

We adhere to the Diocesan Safeguarding Policy, which can be accessed by clicking the button below where you will find the policy and other appropriate information

Our Parish Safeguarding Representative is Angela Disney and should you have any safeguarding concerns about any person regardless of age, please contact Angela on 07988505870 or angelajdisney@outlook.com.

Our Vicar is Rev’d Tim Sumpter can be contacted by telephoning 01332 820084

Please be assured of a speedy response should you contact any of the above with a concern, which suggests a child, young person or adult is at the risk of harm.

‘Best Practice – The aim of the Church of England is to make churches safer and also to create safe places where people feel able to disclose abuse beyond the church (e.g. at home, school or work). In order to facilitate this, parishes may want to consider how they can move beyond the minimum requirements and embrace best practice.
