Helix Ensemble is bringing a wonderful concert to All Saints’ Church, Ockbrook on Saturday 28th September at 7.30pm. The programme includes some familiar classical pieces including Mozart’s 5th Violin Concerto with young local soloist George Boyes, and a piece written in the 20th Century, Aldemaro Romero’s Fuga con Pajarillo for strings, a lively piece of dance music contrasted with a fugue, which will make you tap your feet!
As always, Helix Ensemble loves to bring you a mix of beautiful music in quiet places, and we welcome the return of Musical Director Dan Watson who has worked with many orchestras in the East Midlands and Birmingham. Our soloist George Boyes from Duffield is only 17 but has already performed Bruch’s violin concerto in Nottingham and given several recitals.
We are also playing Haydn’s Symphony No 8, ‘Le Soir’, the last of a set of three symphonies commissioned by Prince Esterhazy with the times of day, Morning, Noon and Evening as inspiration. Jo Conquest and Jane Bevan are our soloists in the Cimerosa Concerto for Two Flutes, a sparkling piece that showcases the instruments really well.
Tickets are £14 for adults, accompanied children free, and include a programme and refreshments. They are available on the door, online through ticketsource.co.uk and for reservations please phone 01332 660593.
