Sept 24 – Youth & Children update
Youth & Children’s update – September 2024
Rise and Shine: This group now meets in the church before the service begins from 10.45am, which has been successful in welcoming new children. We have 8 regular attendees, with numbers rising to 14 when occasional visitors join. Last term, we explored Old Testament Bible characters through storytelling, games, music, and crafts.
Shining Stars: Both the Monday morning and Wednesday afternoon sessions continue to be well supported. We bid farewell to long-time volunteers Debbie and Ada at the end of last term, who have provided invaluable support over the years. We hosted an end of term picnic at Elvaston Castle, where the weather was kind, and everyone enjoyed a wonderful time. Thank you to those that bake for us on a Wednesday afternoon. Please let me know if you can contribute to this.
Sunday Night Saints: This group has 9 members, and we enjoy a mix of games and Bible study. Last term, we focused on 10 key themes for young people to help them discover how to live differently and find their best life through the lens of the bible.
Youth Café: The Cafe remains very popular, especially with Year 5 and 6 students, and has attracted some Year 7s. It provides a safe space for young people to relax, enjoy the tuck shop, and play games.
Schools Work: I attend the local schools and offer support to children and young people struggling with low level mental health issues, as a mentor and listening ear.
Holiday Club: We held our 3-day holiday club for over 50 children at the start of the summer. It was a wonderful/exhausting time. We received lots of positive feedback from parents & children.
As we begin this new term, I kindly ask for continued prayers for all the children, young people, and volunteers who support me in my role. Please also keep me in your prayers as I take time to reflect on the past and prepare for the coming term.
If you can offer any time to help with any of these groups, please reach out to me. None of this would be possible without the dedication of our volunteers, and I am incredibly grateful for each one of them. Many thanks Nat
